Berlin citizens were asked by the council for city development to take part in an online discussion about the future of the surroundings of the former Berlin wall in the district of the Bernauer Straße. The results of the dialogue have been taken into account in the area's construction plans.
Additional Description:
The project started at the end of June 2006 with a moderated online dialogue, organised in several themes. Citizens talked about their views where a memorial could be build, and where buildings could or shoudn’t be placed. At the same time, people could also inform themselves offline, in an information centre in the Bernauer Street. On the 5th of September, there was a meeting, where people could vote for one of the city council’s plans. When the chosen plan was public, everyone could have their say about it, by filling in an online form. The project stopped on the 13th of October 2006. The results of the dialogue have been taken into account in the construction plans of the the Berlin City Development Coucil.
