Supporting Picture Berlin

Politikfabrik

Politikfabrik (Political Factory) is a political agency from students for students. The project was developed at the Otto-Suhr-Institut at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin). The main idea behind Politikfabrik is to provide students at universities with a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Students of political and communication studies develope internet-based political projects, for example the campaign "Wahl Gang" during the 2002 elections of the German Bundestag.

Interaktive Bürgerbeteiligung Alexanderplatz

‘Citizen Participation Alexanderplatz’ was created by the Senate Department for Urban Development in Berlin. In various forums, plans for redesigning Alexanderplatz were discussed. The results were presented to the persons responsible for the effort.

Gleisdreieck Berlin

The website enabled citizens to make suggestions about the redesign of Gleisdreieck (area in the centre of Berlin) and debate them online. The results of this dialogue were then presented to the Senate. They can be downloaded on the website as well.

Berlin-Forum des Regierenden Bürgermeisters

In the forum, the user can discuss and comment on specified topics relating to the city of Berlin. Everyone can read the forum posts. To write a comment in the forum, users have to regiter. Every discussion topic has a short introduction about the issue. Old discussions are closed for comments.

Online Dialog Kulturforum Berlin

The project consisted of an online moderated discussion process in two phases, combined with site visits and public information sessions. The project goal is to achieve public discussion of development at the Berlin Kulturforum and to establish a transparent decision-making process.

Hotline Bürokratieabbau Berlin

On the website of the Senate Department for Economicsfor the city of Berlin, the user finds a questionnaire enabling him to convey problems with administrative regulations and proceedings or to articulate suggestions for their improvement. The user can formulate these freely in a text field.

Bürgerhaushalt Lichtenberg 2008

The Berlin borough Lichtenberg debates the municipal budget for the second time in an online moderated forum, where citizens have the opportunity to express suggestions or criticisms of the district’s budget programme and discuss them. The forum is combined with offline meetings in town halls.

Berlin ohne Nazis

The website "Berlin without nazis" is an online demonstration against the slightly growing extreme right in Berlin. People can upload their photos with a small slogan to make a stand against nazis. A huge banner with the photos of all the protesting people will be hung in the city centre.

1 Euro für Berlin

Berlin has huge debts. As the mayor failed in court to get financial help from other German counties, iDemokratie created a platform where Berlin citizens could donate money to the city themselves, even if it is only one euro. The project has collected a symbolical 2800 euro of the 60 Billion needed.

Online Mauerdialog Berlin

Berlin citizens were asked by the council for city development to take part in an online discussion about the future of the surroundings of the former Berlin wall in the district of the Bernauer Straße. The results of the dialogue have been taken into account in the area's construction plans.
